Christian Thienel is a director at Back Bay Life Science Advisors. He is an experienced life science professional with expertise across various therapeutic areas, including NASH and related metabolic diseases, rare diseases, immunology, and oncology. He joined the Back Bay team in 2017.
At Back Bay Life Science Advisors, Mr. Thienel leads and supports a variety of engagements, primarily focused on portfolio planning and prioritization, pricing & market access strategy, translational development strategy, and licensing strategy. His work spans clients of all sizes, from virtual/concept-stage startups to global life sciences companies.
Prior to Back Bay, Mr. Thienel supported pharma and biotech clients on launch pricing & market access, payer contracting strategy, clinical positioning strategy, and product lifecycle management. The geographic scope of this work was focused on the US and EU-5, but also included an in-depth analysis of Canada, Australia, Japan, and other global markets. His work spanned oncology, neurology, immunology, and included several top-selling pharma products and blockbuster launches.
Mr. Thienel holds a B.E. in Chemical Engineering with Honors from Tufts University.
