On October 22-23, Back Bay had a remarkable showing on the Charles River at the 52nd Head of the Charles Regatta. Amidst 820 of the best rowing clubs in the world and 35mph gusting winds, Back Bay kept shining.James Leech and the Riverside Boat Club were fastest among clubs and brought it home – in a 35mph headwind – to win first place in the Club 8+ category with an exemplary time of 15:43.616.Overcoming some of the worst steering conditions in the Regatta’s history, Erin Driscoll coxed a crew of Rio Olympians to gold in the Women’s Championship Eights. Erin and the Cambridge Boat Club “Great Eight” finished the course in 16:30.368.For the fifth straight year, Greg Benning placed first for Cambridge Boat Club in the Grand Master Singles (50+) on Saturday, with a time of 18:23.893. He went back for more on Sunday, helping his four-man team win the age-handicapped Men’s Quadruple Sculls by seven seconds over a combined crew of Irish and British Olympic scullers. One of the more physically and mentally challenging sports, rowing requires persistence, focus, and commitment to long-term goals. Our Back Bay colleagues typically wake up at 5 a.m., stop by the river and the gym for their practices, put in full day of client work and travel, and are back home in bed by 10 p.m.Congratulations, Erin, James, and Greg, from your teammates at Back Bay. Greg Benning doing his thing.
