Boston Globe: The End of the IPO Drought

Jonathan Gertler was quoted this week in an article that appeared in the Boston Globe about the end of the IPO drought in Massachusetts. Investors are again looking at healthcare – and being more cautious and selective, according to the piece.Dr. Gertler told the Globe that there remains “a huge amount of uncertainty in the country on a political and economic level” and the lull in Massachusetts biotech IPOs following years of heavy activity may have been broken because promising companies wanted to complete their offerings before the July Fourth weekend.

A QUOTE FROM THE ARTICLE:

“It’s a rational but strong market,” Gertler said. “The days when you’re going to have a nuclear winter around biotech are behind us. It’s incredibly quiet relative to the robust years, but good fundamental companies are still going to be able to get out into the public market.”
