The Shifting Interest in Cardiovascular Disease

Historically, cardiology has been one of the cornerstones of large pharmaceutical portfolios. But in the late 2000s through the 2010s, many pharmaceutical companies and investors were shying away from or entirely deprioritizing cardiology R&D, instead shifting towards specialty therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology and neurology.
Recently, we have observed a flurry of activity in CV indications across large pharma, which is also reflected anecdotally in some of our discussions with business development and corporate development groups. In this episode, we discuss what’s driving this change of heart and what’s ahead in the cardiovascular space.
